More than $14,000 to be awarded to deserving students studying in mechanical contracting and engineering fields

OTTAWA, July 14, 2020 – The Mechanical Contractors Association of Canada (MCAC) is now accepting applications for the 2020 Richard McKeagan Scholarship Series, an annual program that will see more than $14,000 awarded in scholarships for students across Canada studying in mechanical contracting and mechanical engineering fields.

The Richard McKeagan Scholarship Series, named in honour of past-CEO Richard McKeagan, is supported by MCAC Associate Members and MCA partners from across Canada to provide the funding for the program. Since its launch in 2006, the scholarship series has awarded more than $50,000 to deserving post-secondary students.

“As the national voice of the mechanical contracting sector in Canada, we understand the importance of supporting the next generation of employees for our industry,” said Dave Holek, President and Chair of MCA Canada. “As the demands on our industry continue to evolve as we face new challenges, education will remain vital to our sector. This program allows us to connect with students and to support the important training taking place across Canada.”

The Richard McKeagan Scholarship Series targets the mechanical field of study and has been broadened to include several new initiatives, including scholarships specifically for women in the mechanical field. This is in addition to the several scholarships available for financial assistance in the mechanical field of study.

Scholarships are available through the following MCAC Associate Members and MCA partners: Bradford White Canada, Federated Insurance, Masco/Delta, MCA Hamilton-Niagara, Reliance Worldwide, Uponor, and the broader Associate Membership of MCA Canada, which funds a single MCAC Associate Member Scholarship.

“This scholarship series is a very important initiative for MCA Canada, and we are pleased once again to be offering more than $12,000 in financial aid,” added Holek. “We are committed to supporting the next generation of workers and leaders in our sector, as well as their education and training, so that our industry can count on the best and brightest for many years to come.”

More information about the Richard McKeagan Scholarship Series, as well as the online application form, can be found online at https://mcac.ca/our-programs/scholarships/.
