MCAC Statement on National Day of Mourning

On April 28, the Mechanical Contractors Association of Canada (MCAC) joins organizations and our peers across Canada in observing the National Day of Mourning. Today is a day to honour and remember the workers who have lost their lives or have been injured on the jobsite.
“Safety must never be optional,” said Tania Johnston, MCAC Chief Executive Officer. “On this National Day of Mourning, we remember those workers who have not returned home safely, and we reaffirm our collective responsibility to make workplaces safer for everyone.”
As an industry that relies on the skill, dedication, and professionalism of its workforce, MCAC recognizes that safety must always be a highest priority.
MCAC remains committed to promoting strong safety cultures, continuous improvement in training and standards, and collaboration across the construction sector to prevent workplace injuries and fatalities.
Today also serves as a reminder that safety is not just a single day responsibility; it is a commitment every day, on every jobsite, so that all workers can return home safe.
