MCA Canada Continues Work On Prompt Payment
MCA Canada Calls To End Payment Delays
With the federal election over with and all federal government parties back in the house, MCA Canada continues to press forward on our commit to introducing Prompt Payment Legislation. During the election, MCA Canada and our NTCCC partner organizations garnered thousands of emails, held many meetings with past and current MP’s and in general, kept the elimination of payment delays in the forefront of each major party. The concept is pretty straight forward, legislation would require all federal contracts for construction projects to include a prompt payment clause. This would require general contracts to make payments on-time for work that has been completed and that is not in dispute. Without costing the government anything extra, this would be a positive stimulus to the construction industry and would have the positive long-term effect of inviting more competitive bids and more affordable projects overall.
